The academic Insights coffee maker and the blender are both fairly well made, considering they involve water. It’s easy to assume that in the event that they weren’t so well designed we’d have water in every single place, but that has not been the case. They’ve done an awesome job with the seals, the sizing, and the motors, to lead them to actually “work” without creating a mess (or any danger to fingers). The motors are sized appropriate to the toys — safe for fingers, yet strong enough to see and sound real — and the sound effects at the coffee maker are fun. Durable; colorful; only a few pieces to wander off.
This purchase actually replaces our first one, which stopped pumping water after about five years (pretty reasonable i feel). At age 9, my daughter shows no sign of tiring of them.

My daughter wanted this coffee maker so badly. We’ve the matching blender and were comfortable with it, so I went ahead and purchased the coffee maker for her birthday. Big mistake. It leaks water out the bottom and onto the counter, making a huge mess. I returned it for a replacement (which was done quite quickly) only to have exactly the same thing happen with the second. Don’t waste your time and cash in this product!
